Vascular Wellness and Prevention

Vascular Wellness and Prevention

At CC Vascular Medicine and Imaging, our philosophy is simple: prevention first, treatment second. By focusing on proactive care, we aim to protect the endothelium—the delicate lining of your blood vessels—before damage occurs. When the lining is compromised, a process called endothelial dysfunction begins, setting the stage for vascular disease.

Why Prevention Matters

Vascular disease often develops silently. Early detection allows us to intervene before symptoms worsen or complications arise. We carefully evaluate risk factors such as:

  • Smoking – accelerates arterial damage
  • Obesity – increases inflammation and circulation problems
  • High blood pressure – strains vessel walls
  • Cholesterol imbalances – contribute to plaque buildup
  • Insulin resistance – often present before diabetes is diagnosed
  • Chronic stress – elevates blood pressure, promotes inflammation, and can worsen other vascular risk factors

Advanced Vascular Screenings

At CC Vascular Medicine and Imaging, we provide state-of-the-art vascular screenings designed to detect problems before symptoms appear. These non-invasive tests give patients peace of mind and allow for early intervention when needed.

Carotid Ultrasound and Carotid Intima-Thickness (CIMT)

  • Carotid Ultrasound evaluates blood flow in the carotid arteries, which supply blood to the brain. This test can detect narrowing or blockages (carotid artery disease) that may increase strok e risk.
  • CIMT Screening measures the thickness of the inner layers of the carotid artery wall. It identifies early vascular changes before plaque develops, making it a powerful tool for prevention.

Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) Testing

ABI compares blood pressure in the ankle and arm to detect peripheral artery disease (PAD). PAD can cause leg pain while walking or exercising and is often underdiagnosed. Early detection helps prevent complications and improves quality of life.

Abdominal Aorta Ultrasound

This ultrasound screens for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), a potentially life-threatenin g condition where the main artery in the abdomen enlarges or weakens. Detecting an aneurysm early allows for monitoring or treatment before rupture occurs.

Our Preventive Approach

  • Early evaluation for leg pain to rule out vascular causes
  • Personalized risk assessments based on your health profile
  • Evidence-based strategies to reduce vascular risk factors
  • Ongoing monitoring
  • Education and support to empower you in making heart-healthy choices
